The museum is housed in a new building that was completed in 1995. All findings are from the surrounding area and reflect on the historical course of the city, of the ancient and Christian periods.

All of the artefacts were discovered in the surrounding region and provide insight into the city’s historical development during the ancient and Christian periods.
The civil history of Amfipoli is displayed in its exhibition areas, which span from the pre-historic period to the late Byzantine period, and the housing, as well as the maintenance and study of the findings brought to light by the archaeological excavations, is carried out in its store rooms and workshops.
When you first go inside the museum, you’ll notice the silver reliquary and the gold wreath formed of olive leaves that were discovered in a cist burial while building the foundations for the museum. These items were discovered when constructing the foundations for the museum.
